Unfortunately, many people don’t realize how beneficial reading can be for our mental health and well-being until it’s too late. In 2022, here are 10 reasons why books will boost your mental health:

  1. Reading is relaxing and it can help you sleep better.

2. It’s a great way to escape the stress of daily life.

3. Books provoke us to think.

4. You get more knowledge from reading than watching TV or playing video games.

5. You can start your day with a good book before work, during lunch break, or after dinner.

6. Reading will increase your vocabulary.

7 . It improves concentration and focus skills.

8. Reading makes you more empathetic towards others’ feelings.

9 . You’ll be able to learn new things about other cultures by reading books.

10 . Reading is insightful!

In 2022, it is estimated that 1 in 5 people will experience some form of a mental illness. What do you think is the best way to combat this pandemic? Start by reading a book! It doesn’t matter if you read the print or audiobook format.

Spend some time with your favorite author for a hour a day. You’ll still have 23 more hours left. Those 60 minutes can help you improve both your mind and body each day. When you are mentally alert, your body responds in a better way.

Imagine this scenario for a second! You are in a room with books stacked from the floor to the ceiling. You can’t even see the walls or windows. Still, you know they’re there somewhere. There’s a table that is immediately in front of you. This table has some more books on the flat surface. In the corner of the room there are three different colored lights hanging on strings from the ceiling. The first light is green, then red, then blue. What do these colors mean to you?

Personally, they represent how many hours per day we should be reading. One hour for every light. This means we should be reading on an average of 3 hours per day. What do those lights mean to you?

Start 2022 by providing intellectual stimulation to your mind. In addition, give yourself a peace of mind by avoiding all the chaos around you. Reading is a peaceful activity. Let that peace give you a break from tackling those problems at work or school during those hectic days.

You’ve probably heard the old saying, “You are what you eat.” Well, it turns out that this is true for your mind as well! A recent study found that reading can help to reduce mental illness symptoms by 38%. Reading a book doesn’t have to be difficult or time consuming. There are many different formats available for reading including print and audiobook options. No matter how you choose to read, set aside 60 minutes every day over the next month and make sure it’s quality time with an author who speaks to your soul!
